Thread: Hardware upgrade Q&A ?

    Re: Hardware upgrade Q&A ?

I'm surprised you're getting poor GTA V performance with that system. I would make sure the sliders in the advanced graphic settings aren't turned up very far. Any chance you're using an old GPU driver, and just may need to update to a recent GTA optimized version?

the answer to that may be a wait till dx12 and then we will all know
There will be zero bottleneck issues with the 3570K.

Your 7970 is not bad for 1080P gaming, even with newer generation games. I often check http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc for information/boredom, there most people recommend (if you entend to go NVIDIA) the GTX970. I think you will notice a big bumpe in frames.

Another idea for you Silver. Why not look at a bigger screen either 27 inch (2560X1440) or maybe a 28 inch (4K/ULTRA HD) for getting something new?

If you go for a bigger screen your CPU is still fine, but then you need to look at a GTX980 or better for at least 60-100 avg. fps.

Last idea, if you don't wanna go for a larger screen, then what about a 24 inch with 120HZ or 144HZ?

I would wait too with your setup, but the ideal upgrade would be the GPU + bigger or faster screen right now.

There is couple of ways to upgrade your screen, if you like good image quality and natural colours = 27 inch IPS 2560X1440
Bare in mind that this will only run with 60HZ (there is some overclockable korean ips-models you can buy over ebay, quite cheap, but it's risky if they get damage), so here you will be safe with GTX970 that will give you +50-60 avg. FPS. There is also Asus ROG switch 27 inch screens, but they are very expensive
    Price index of 27 inch (2560X1440) - first one is 25": https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/parts/mo...sort=a8&page=1

    ...will update later.

little more research in levelcaps video

I should be in squad closed alpha in sept, so will see how much I like the game and take it from there
I hope for addictive gameplay !
If its awesome then I will consider new GPU & VDU combo

New Intel chip came out, so right now Skylake is the way to go if you wanna upgrade CPU/Motherboard. You also need to upgrade RAM, because it is now DDR4.

If you are on a budget then the older Intel chipset are still fine, but if you are doing a fresh upgrade, then Skylake might be better. They have not released any i3 CPUs yet, only i5 6600K and i7 6700K.

Thought Ill post in this old thread.
Been thinking about upgrading my computer.
Give some thoughts about the stuff behind the links.
Dont want to spend too much money since Im not playing so much anymore.
Looking for an upgrade that will last 3 years or so.
Could buy a whole new computer or just the basic stuff. Would save around 300€ if buy only the parts.
Checked some comparision and AMD seemed better for just gaming than Intel and was also cheaper.
And for GPU Radeon 5700 XT seems to beat RTX 2070 and again is cheaper too.
